Dr. Roland Ipuole, a legal practitioner and lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar (UNICAL), has reportedly been abducted in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

According to a widely circulated social media post, Ipuole, a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Calabar Branch, was kidnapped around 8 pm on Tuesday while attending a meeting along Marian Road.

It was gathered that the incident occurred when a group of individuals, who have been engaging in robbery and causing terror in the area, abducted him.

Meanwhile, one of the victims, Dominic Ogri, has regained his freedom from the abductors.

Concerned sons and daughters of Edebia in Calabar have called on the state government and security agencies to intervene to ensure the release of the lecturer.

“Dr. Barr. Roland Ipuole of Law Faculty, UNICAL reportedly kidnapped along with two others. While one of the victims, Dominic Ogri has just regained freedom from these bandits, Roland is still being held.

“We are calling on all security agencies to rise up to this challenge by ensuring that Bar Roland is released unharmed.

“To our dear Governor, we see the action of these kidnappers as an attempt to rubbish your good intentions for the state.

“Please and please, use this as a test case and show these detractors that you are fully in charge of the state.
