Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Paris FC goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been crowned as the best goalkeeper for the 2023/24 season in the French Division 1 Féminine League by the Union for Professional Football Players (UNFP).
She received the prize at the UNFP Trophies gala in Paris, the French capital, on Monday night.
Nnadozie, who has played 1710 minutes on the field, conceded 1.16 goals per every 90 minutes of play. Her clean sheet ratio currently stands at 32%, indicating that she has kept a clean sheet in 6 out of the 19 matches she has played.
Throughout the season, the 23-year-old showcased remarkable skill, contributing significantly to Paris FC’s third-place finish in the regular season and their qualification for the playoffs.
After receiving the award, the former Rivers Angels goalkeeper took to social media to express her excitement, stating that she is “incredibly grateful and humbled” by the recognition.
“I’m incredibly grateful and humbled by this award. @tropheesunfp thank you for recognizing my efforts. @paristc_feminines, the president, the entire team staff, the fans, and my wonderful teammates,” she wrote on her X handle. “Your belief in me and my work is a tremendous source of motivation.
In April, she was also awarded the title of best goalkeeper in the D1 Arkema by the league body.
Her exceptional form extends to the international stage with the Super Falcons. Playing a pivotal role, she contributed significantly to Nigeria’s qualification for the women’s football event at the Paris Olympics. In six games, she conceded just once, helping Nigeria secure their spot in the competition for the first time in 16 years.
