The Appeal Court on Thursday upheld the decision of the Rivers State National Election Tribunal which sacked Mr. George Sekibo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as the senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District at the upper chamber.

Sekibo had challenged his removal by the tribunal and filed an appeal challenging his removal by the tribunal.

Delivering judgment on Thursday, the Appeal Court dismissed Sekibo’s appeal, saying it lacked merit.

The court said the appeal by Sekibo failed to show any reason why the decision of the Tribunal should be set aside.
