The body of former governor of Anambra State, late Pius Chukwuemeka Ezeife has been laid to mother earth at his hometown, Igbo Ukwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, South East Nigeria.

Family members, friends and political associates gathered to observe a solemn religious ritual as the body was interred at his country home.

The final activities of the earthly journey of Okwadike Igbo Ukwu, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezife began this Saturday with arrival of his body for a funeral service conducted by the Salvation Army International.

The officiating Minister, Lt. Col. Nkwachukwu Ezeonyilimba in his sermon, urged politicians and leaders at all levels in Nigeria to imbibe the character of selfless service just like the late Chukwuemeka Ezeife, as a means of alleviating poverty and ensuring development in the country.

The host Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo described the late former Governor as one of the best that God gave to the world, adding that it was a big loss for Anambra State, Igbo land and Nigeria at large.

A mark of honour, to the man who held sway at the Anambra State Government House between January 1992 to November 1993, he received a twenty one gun salute from the Nigeria Police Force, even in death.

His son Ebubedike Ezeife says the family will miss the fatherly advice and mentorship.

The body was Interred after a brief ceremony at the grave side.

The groups and individuals have continued to pay their traditional homage to the family of late former Anambra State governor, Pius Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Okwadike Igbo Ukwu.
