Delta State hosted a significant gathering of distinguished individuals from diverse ethnic nationalities and societal backgrounds to commemorate the homecoming of the immediate past Deputy President of the Senate and Delta State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Obarisi Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR.The event, a grand homecoming ceremony, celebrated his return to his homeland in a manner befitting his stature.

The grand reception which was held at Oil City Motel, Ughelli Town marked a significant event, honoring a distinguished individual from Delta who has brought great prestige to the state and its residents.

Present at the grand homecoming event were distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Senator Ede Dafinone, Senator Joel Ono-whakpo, APC stalwarts across the state, Hon. Eric Oharisi, House of Reps member, Rt Hon Waive, APC members of Delta State House of Assembly and Hon. Evance Iwhurie, among several other dignitaries.

The New Diplomat reports that the streets of Ughelli burst into life with jubilation, welcoming the former Deputy Senate President and his entourage in a historic moment. The atmosphere was filled with the mesmerizing beats of drums, as vibrant displays of cultural pride permeated the air.

The moment of honor was truly exceptional with the outpouring of support and participation of people from all walks of life. The event was made colorful by the presence of individuals ranging from artisans to members of transportation associations, market women to political and religious groups, and thousands of others who set aside their daily pursuits to join in the celebration of Senator Omo-Agege’s homecoming.

Senator Nwaoboshi, the man regarded as the political Oracle in Delta state, took his turn to address the large gathering.

The Senator enjoined Deltans to continue to support and pray for the success of the former deputy president of the Senate, urging him to ensure that the Delta APC received its fair share of the “national appointments as our leader of the party in the state.”Nwaoboshi told the gathering that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s politics of inclusion has brought tremendous progress, gains and strides to our people. According to Senator Nwaoboshi, Omo-Agege has worked with other leaders to grow the electoral and appointive fortunes of the APC in Delta State and beyond.

He said:”His campaign to govern Delta State in the last general elections clearly speaks to our people’s overwhelming approval of his organic populist leadership. A leader with uncommon courage, equity, progressive values and convictions and firm faith in the power of the people…,I have come for merriment. I want to thank all of us for putting this show of solidarity. I want to thank all of us for making it possible for APC to win two senatorial seat out of three, House of Representative and House of Assembly in the last 2023 election.
We have the needed strategies and our leader, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege,is an intelligent man who knows what to do and what to say. “

At the heart of this euphoria lies Senator Omo-Agege’s unwavering commitment to the betterment of his constituents and his tireless efforts in advancing the interests of Delta State on the national stage. According to those present, Omo-Agege’s tenure was marked by notable achievements, from championing legislative reforms to spearheading development projects that have positively impacted the lives of countless individuals in the State and across the country.

The New Diplomat also reports that Omo-Agege is duly recognized as one of the highest sponsors of bills and motions in his time in the National Assembly. This exemplary lawmaking record started in 2016 with the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) Establishment Act – a law he thoughtfully drafted and masterfully engaged with his colleagues and the executive branch not only to give a sustainable legal legislative framework to the institution but also to grant it the unique status of a ‘strategic national asset’ within the Nigerian oil and gas sector. ‘’An uncommon resourceful feat hardly talked about’, added an APC stalwart.

Following the success of the FUPRE Act, the Obarisi of Urhoboland again moved boldly for an Act to establish the Federal Polytechnic Orogun (FEPO), and got it as former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR gave his sweeping approval to Obarisi’s quest to establish the institution as a center of innovation for modern research.
