The Army has flown the Ovie of Ewu kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Clement Ikolo to Abuja.

It was gathered that the Commanding Officer of the 63 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Asaba, the Delta State Police Commissioner, and other senior military officers boarded the monarch on an Air Peace airline, and the plane departed Asaba Airport tarmac at about 9.10 am to Abuja.

The development came a few hours after the Delta State Police Command handed over the king, whom the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, declared wanted with seven others over his alleged connection with the killing of 17 soldiers at Okuama.

It was also gathered that the monarch is being taken to Abuja for further investigation. The security agents are expected to grill him on his knowledge about the murder of the 17 military personnel.

The New Diplomat reports that the monarch had surrendered himself to the police.

Monarch arrived at the premises of the Delta State Police Command at about 6:41 pm on Thursday and presented himself to the state Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda.

However, speaking before surrendering himself to the Police for investigation, the monarch denied any involvement in the murder of the military personnel.

He said murder is against his faith as a Christian and against his personal belief as a human being and a leader of his community.
