President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Zubaida Umar as Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
He replaces Mustapha Habib Ahmed who has been sacked about three years after his appointment on May 31, 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The new NEMA Director-General, Zubaida Umar has over 20 years of work experience in diverse fields, including Human Resources, and Finance and Administration. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and the Institute of Credit Administration. She holds ACCA certifications in Public Financial Management and Digital and Sustainability Financing.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu has also approved the appointment of Brigadier-General Lawal Ja’afar Isa (Rtd) as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education. He was Military Administrator of Kaduna State from 1993 to 1996.
And Tijani Hashim Abbas is now the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Chieftaincy Matters. He is the Sarkin Sudan Kano.
A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Anjuri Ngelale says the President anticipates that the new appointees will bring their vast experience into the new roles, in order to impact the very core of society.
