The lawmaker representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, on Tuesday, dropped a bombshell to say that some of his colleagues got N500 million.

The lawmaker made this revelation during a rowdy session at the red chamber of the National Assembly.

Senator Jarigbe revealed that some senators were given N500 million as palliatives for their constituents while others got N200 million.

This revelation did not go down well with some senators and a shouting match ensued, with the Senate President Godswill Akpabio struggling to restore order in the chamber.

The New Diplomat reports that though Jarigbe did not say what the money was paid for it further validates fears by Nigerians that lawmakers have been fleecing the country for no reason.

There have been long accusations of senators receiving bribes from the executives to pass the annual budget, clear appointees of government, and allocating huge sums of money to themselves in the budget.
