Nigeria and Qatar have signed seven biliteral agreements covering different spheres and aimed at deepening ties between the two countries.

Prior to the signing ceremony on Sunday in the Qatari Presidential Palace in Doha, President Bola Tinubu assured his hosts of Nigeria’s preparedness to welcome Qatari investors.

The seven agreements signed include a cooperation agreement in the field of education, the regulation of employment of workers with the Qatari Government, and the establishment of joint business council between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture.

In addition to an agreement of cooperation in the field of youths and sports, there are others in tourism and business and a Memorandum of Understanding to combat trade in narcotics drugs and other psychotropic substances.

The documents were signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and relevant officials from the Qatari Government

Addressing a business and investment forum after the bilateral engagement, President Tinubu assured his audience of Nigeria’s preparedness to welcome investors into the country, noting the ongoing reforms, innovation, return on investments, and multiculturalism.

The business and investment forum draws the curtain on President TInubu’s two-day state visit to Qatar.
