In a move to bring all warring factions under a single umbrella, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has constituted a committee saddled with the responsibilities of reconciling all aggrieved parties.

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Abuja on Friday unveiled an eleven-man committee to embark on a process to reconcile with disgruntled aspirants, including Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, ahead of the Edo State governorship election slated for September 21, 2024.

The New Diplomat reports that Shaibu won a parallel primary held at the deputy governor’s lodge, securing 300 votes. Shaibu subsequently demanded for the Certificate of Return, warning that the party risked losing the governorship election if he was not accepted as the flagbearer.

Also, some aspirants in the primary election have expressed their grievances at the process which produced Barrister Asue Ighodalo as the governorship candidate of the party.

To address the growing dissent, PDP has now constituted a committee. The reconcilatory committee would be chaired by former governor of Bauchi state, Senator Abdulkadir Bala Mohammed.

This was contained in a press release signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, Friday and made available to the New Diplomat.
