The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero has implored Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu to convey the alarming hunger in Nigeria to President Bola Tinubu, as she is better positioned to do so. He noted the current hardship as “more serious” than before.

While speaking during a courtesy visit by the First Lady to him in his Palace in Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero stressed that she offers a “surest way” to convey the feelings from the grassroots to the president. “As ordinary citizens are worse recipients of the suffering occasioned by spike in food costs…

“Although we have several means of communicating to the government on our needs and requests, your way and means is the surest way that you would tell the President the actual happenings in the country.

“The hunger and starvation, though didn’t start with this government, the situation has become more alarming and needs urgent attention” he said

Also, the Emir further decried the nagging issues of insecurity as another serious problem. While he acknowledged that the present government inherited these issues, he appealed that more serious measures be taken regarding the threats

As Nigerians grapple with food costs spiking over 30% annually, frustrations have increasingly spilled into street protests and Mrs. Tinubu is entrusted with the role of an intermediary.

Having promoted her husband’s campaign with vows of prosperity and welfare, the Emir’s plea is understandable.

While commending the first lady for her care on the wellbeing and welfare of the children, he advised that actualizing her Renewed Hope Initiative Pet Programme, an initiative which seeks to alleviate the struggles of families through empowerment is important. He added that the programme, if fully achieved, would ease the increasing challenges faced by the underprivileged

On the courtesy visit with the First lady’s were Barau Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State, and Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, the Minister of State for the FCT and others
