President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inaugurated the pioneering Renewed Hope City project on Thursday, a major step in his vision to construct 20,000 affordable housing units across the Federal Capital Territory.
The development in Karsana, Abuja, features 3,112 residential units integrated into a sustainable community. Tinubu envisions the project as transforming standard housing for Nigerians nationwide.
During the inauguration of the project, Tinubu said his administration is committed to ensuring the provision of decent and affordable housing for Nigerians
The Renewed Hope City model will include reliable electricity, healthcare access, quality schools and skill-building institutions. Interconnected roads to allow mobility within the community and beyond.
Tinubu directed the Minister of the FCT to prioritize accessible transportation links to all Renewed Hope sites blooming under his housing initiative
According to the president, housing is a vital social infrastructure and a priority for economic growth and job creation. The present administration projects the creation of 500,000 jobs through the planned 20,000 housing units in the Federal Capital Territory.
While urging rapid progress for a 2024 completion target in the capital, the president confirmed that a similar “monumental” Renewed Hope City developments are slated for Lagos and Kano States.
Tinubu applauded the Housing Ministry’s National Urban and Slum Upgrading Programme already reaching 26 locations countrywide.
