In a unanimous decision, the Senate adjourned it’s briefing by Service Chiefs on matters of national security to February 13, 2024.
This is to allow a more robust deliberation as other relevant officials in the security of the country will be present at the new date
The Senate had set the previous date on 30th January, during its ssession on the first legislative day of the year regarding the worsening state of insecurity in the country.
Senate President, Godswil Akpabio adjourned the briefing as the senate saw it fit to include other important parties who can help achieve a holistic deliberation
Present at today’s briefing was the Chief Of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja and The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.
As a result the briefing will now include : Service Chiefs, Minister of Finance, Interior Minister, The National Security Adviser, Defence Minister, Minster of State for Defence and the Minister of Police Affairs.
