No Casualties As Private Jet With VIPs Onboard Crash-Landed In Ibadan – NCAA

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has confirmed that no lives were lost following an incident in Ibadan, Oyo State capital where a private jet on board with 12 passengers including Very Important Personalities (VIPs) crash-landed.

According to news reports monitored by The New Diplomat noted that the jet belonging to Mattini Air, crash-landed at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan at about 11:00am on Friday.

The aircraft, with registration number N580KR, missed the runway and skidded into the nearby bush.

Rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were alerted and promptly deployed to the scene.

“It was a private plane from Abuja. It landed safely but overshot the runway. There was no casualty,” a spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Carol Adekotujo, told Channels Television.

No comments have been reported as of the time of the report from the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, according to the outlet.

Friday’s incident in the aviation sector marks the third within less than a year.

It would be recalled that in November 2023, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, narrowly escaped a fatal incident when an aircraft he was on board crash-landed at the same airport.
