It appears that President Bola Tinubu will place utmost importance on minimizing insecurity in the upcoming year.

This is evident as the Ministry of Defence has received the highest allocation of N1.3 trillion in the approved 2024 budget.

It would be recalled on Saturday, that an augmented appropriation Bill was approved by both chambers of the National Assembly, showing a significant increase in the budget initially proposed by President Bola Tinubu.

The parliament added a substantial sum of N1.2 trillion to the budget from the initial N27.5 trillion to N28.7 trillion.

Meanwhile, at the conclusion of the special session on Saturday, Abubakar Bichi, the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, informed journalists that the N1.2 trillion rise was attributed to inflation and the commitment of Government Owned Enterprises (GOEs) to boost their revenue.

In the approved budget, The Ministry of Defence got the highest allocation of N1.3tn followed by the Ministry of Police Affairs with N869.121bn.
Others are:
The Ministry of Education got N857.134 billion.
