Chief Edwin Clark, the former Federal Commissioner for Information and South-South Leader, has expressed his disapproval of the directives given to Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State regarding the resolution of the political crisis in the state.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday, Clark expressed his concerns regarding the settlement terms between Wike and Fubara, emphasizing that they were heavily biased and specifically deemed unacceptable by the Ijaw community in Nigeria.

Clark, who addressed journalists at his residence in Asokoro, Abuja, characterized Wike as the mastermind behind the political chaos in Rivers State. He claimed that Wike’s actions were intended to restrict Governor Fubara’s authority.

It would be recalled on Monday, key stakeholders in Rivers State, including prominent political figures and President Bola Tinubu, resolved to undo certain actions taken during the conflict between Wike and Fubara. This resolution is part of a larger effort to achieve a comprehensive settlement.

In light of this, Clark claimed that the eight-point resolution lacked democratic principles, exhibited dictatorial tendencies, displayed a one-sided perspective, and ultimately aimed to transfer the political leadership to Nyesom Wike.

Clark stated that based on the terms of the reported agreement between Wike and Fubara, it was evident that President Tinubu utilized his position as a mediator to express his appreciation to the FCT minister for “delivering” Rivers State to him in the previous presidential elections.
