Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State, has called for a thorough investigation into the unintentional military airstrike that occurred in Tudun Biri village, located in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Obi emphasized the importance of providing adequate funding to the military and other security agencies by the federal government in order to enhance their operational capabilities.

He made this known during his visit to the victims at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in the state capital on Tuesday.

According to the Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, the federal government has failed to take any decisive action to prevent a recurrence of the tragic incidents, despite the fact that the country has already witnessed 16 accidental military bombings resulting in the loss of more than 500 lives.

He, however, emphasized the importance of the government’s backing for the military in order to prevent the recurrence of incidents such as unintentional bombings.

Obi further emphasized the need for a comprehensive inquiry into the military airstrike and put forward the idea of creating a foundation to provide support to the victims affected by the Tudun Biri drone attack, particularly those who have tragically lost their parents due to this unfortunate event.

It would be recalled in the late hours of Sunday, December 3, 2023, a Nigerian military drone struck parts of the Tudun Biri village killing 85 civilians who were Muslims observing the religious celebration – the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
