Kola Ologbondiyan, former spokesman to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, 2023 Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Monday, described the defection of 27 River States PDP Lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress, APC, as depressing.

Ologbondiyan in a post on X platform, said that the party has survived more dangerous storms in the past and Rivers State situation is one out of many.

His words, “Let me drop this here.

“The situation in Rivers State, to say the least, is very depressing.

“But @OfficialPDPNig has weathered more dangerous storms, and has survived.

“Whichever way the Rivers situation plays out, PDP will remain standing, because its oxygen is the power of the people.”

A video sighted by The New Diplomat confirmed the Rivers State Lawmakers’ defection as they were seen inside a bus singing Tinubu’s Mandate song to an undisclosed location.

It would be recalled that some Rivers State lawmakers who are said to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike early today defected to APC.

It was gathered that the Lawmakers’ held plenary around 8am where the decision was taken.

The lawmakers sat under tight security mounted at the entrance of the Assembly complex along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.
