Kayode Ajulo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has claimed that some government officials from Ondo State have been signing papers in Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s name amid his current health challenge.

In an interview on Arise TV on Monday, Ajulo said that since power has not been transferred to the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, he could not assume the governorship from Akeredolu.

The senior lawyer suggested that this has opened up the possibility for cabals to take control of governing in the state.

He said, “I have it on good authority as a lawyer. Some of the commissioners, about five of them, sent memos to the governor, and they all returned with approval.

“Going through the approval compared to what the governor had approved when he was hail and hearty, there are notable disparities in them.

“The Police and Administration of Justice Act has made it clear that there can be private investigators who have been contacted because of the issue, and their results are so damning. In fact, EFCC needs to visit Ondo State to ask some questions.

“The purported signature is not from the governor. It is so apparent.”

TheNewDiplomat had earlier reported that the Deputy Governor, Aiyedatiwa presided over the State Executive Council meeting following the withdrawal of the appeal against the deputy by the State House of Assembly.

Also, in a subsequent report, the President intervened in putting an end to the political rift between the deputy governor and supporters of his principal, Governor Akeredolu.
