Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-Nigerian President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Thursday, called out two prominent Igbo icons in the South-east over their silence to condemn the alleged burning of Chinedu and Omama in Onitsha, Anambra state.

Omokri in a tweet on X platform berated the former Governor of the state and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi and former minister of education over their silence in condemning the horrific murder of the victims.

While reacting to the incident, Omokri said, “when next Oby Ezekwesili and Peter Obi condemn a tragedy that occurs in Lagos or Kano, remember how they both kept loudly quiet after two brothers were set on fire with tyres and petrol and killed in the most barbaric fashion right in the Onitsha where they live and have their businesses.”

In the same vein, Buhari’s former aide on digital assistant, Bashir Ahmad has urged Peter Obi to condemn the recent incident in Onitsha where Chinedu and Omama were seen burnt alive.

Bashir in his reaction tagged Peter Obi’s X handle, in his words, “Please Peter Obi, condemn the horrific act against Chinedu and Omama, who were barbarically burned alive by heedless mobs in Anambra. Please register your voice and address them since they listen to you.”

In a separate tweet he said, “watching the barbaric video of the burning to death of the two individuals, Chinedu and Omama, in Anambra, allegedly involved in illegal revenue collection was so traumatic.

“It was an act of violence that went against the principles of justice and the rule of law. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones affected by the tragedy.

“While it is crucial to address issues of illegal revenue collection and ensure compliance with the law, it is equally essential to uphold humanity and due process.

“Vigilantism and taking the law into one’s hands should never be encouraged and tolerated.”

It would be recalled that two persons suspected to be brothers were on Wednesday burnt to death in Onitsha, Anambra State, for touting.

In a video that had gone viral, bystanders were seen screaming,” These are touts collecting illegal levies around the Bida area of Onitsha. They were being set ablaze for touting.

The alleged touts were seen in the video struggling to escape from bonfire, but could not.
