The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso, on Wednesday, invalidated the appointment of Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor-turned Soun of Ogbomoso, Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye.

It could be recalled that Pastor Olaoye was appointed and crowned king Soun of Ogbomosho land on September 8, 2023.

He was appointed by the Oyo State Government barely two years after the death of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.

Oba Ajagungbade III died December 2021, at the age of 95 years after 48 years on the throne.

However, controversy trailed the appointment of Olaoye in which warring parties headed to the court to seek redress

Details revealed that Chairman of the Screening Committee for the Laoye ruling house, in Ogbomoso, Abdulwahab Laoye, objected to the emergence of Ghandi saying the family did not select anybody to fill the seat of Soun of Ogbomoso contrary to report that someone had been selected.

According to him, the ruling house was perplexed following a report that one Ghandi Afolabi, a pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), had been selected.
