Willie Obiano, former governor of Anambra State, has been spotted strolling with his dog in the United States of America.

Obiano has been out of the political radar since he handed over to Governor Charles Soludo in March 2022.

Obiano, who succeeded Peter Obi in 2014 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), few days after leaving office was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, for questioning by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Obiano who was making arrangements to leave the country had his trip cut short by the anti-graft agency and was flown to the headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja where he was grilled.

It was revealed that “Obiano was arrested for alleged misappropriation of public funds, including, N5 billion Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (Sure-P) and N37 billion security vote which was withdrawn in cash. Part of the funds was also allegedly diverted to finance political activities in the state,” according to Wilson Uwujaren, EFFC spokesman.

He was later released on bail.
