Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Monday, declared a curfew in two communities, Orolu and Irepodun Local Government Areas, over a communal clash on land dispute.

The notice of curfew conveyed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon Kolapo Alimi, is to enforce law and order in the area.

Governor Adeleke also directed that the curfew will start between the hours of 8 pm every night to 6 am in the two local government areas affected – Orolu and Irepodun.

The statement also noted that human and vehicular movement is restricted during the curfew till further notice. This is to forestall attempts at the destruction of lives and properties during this period because of the land dispute.

The government warned that anyone caught wandering or moving around in Irepodun and Orolu local government areas during the curfew period will be arrested and prosecuted appropriately.

Governor Adeleke sued for peace between these two local government areas and asked that the ethos of Peace, Love and Unity which the state is known for, be imbibed.
