Spokesman of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Yunusa Tanko, has expressed disappointment in the aftermath of the judgment by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) on Wednesday.
The LP spokesperson in an interview on Channels Television on Thursday said they saw proof that voters were intimidated, snatching ballot boxes and ethnic profiling by non-state actors during the elections.
According to Dr. Tanko, these issues which were enough to cancel the February 25 presidential election presented in the party’s petition were totally ignored as not being enough.
His words: “We saw proof that our voters were intimidated, ballot boxes were snatched, ethnic profiling took place, and that particular issue was presented in that court for the Nigerian people to see.
“But yet, we were told that that particular evidence is not enough; it’s not enough to invalidate the election.”
It would be recalled that on Wednesday the election tribunal upheld the victory of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after dismissing the petitions filed by the LP and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the APC after the presidential election.
However, the two political parties have said that they would not relent on their quest for justice as they are planning to appeal the judgment in the Supreme Court.
