Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has reiterated the importance of unity and collective efforts in addressing shared challenges, including economic development, peace, and security within the West African region.
The minister who was speaking today during a courtesy visit to his office by the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Touray and his delegation, said the meeting underscores the strong and collaborative relationship between Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.
A release signed by Hon. Ahmad Shehu Hassan (Na-Allah) on behalf of the ministry disclosed that discussions centered on bolstering regional cooperation, advancing diplomatic ties, and addressing critical issues that affect the West African region.
Also speaking at the occasion,
the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa, highlighted the commitment of the ministry to fostering closer cooperation with ECOWAS and promoting the shared objectives of regional stability and development.
In response, Dr. Touray expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received and reiterated ECOWAS’ dedication to regional integration, sustainable development, and peace building. He commended Nigeria for its pivotal role in advancing these goals.
He said the courtesy visit further solidifies the longstanding ties between Nigeria and ECOWAS and lays the groundwork for enhanced collaboration in addressing regional challenges and achieving common objectives.
