Amidst persistent concerns for urgent intervention over the worsening security challenges and the sit-at-home order imposed by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has berated the Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress Party, APC over the poor handling of the security crisis plaguing the Southeast.

The former Minister in a tweet on Tuesday evening, said the FG and APC have not taken full responsibility for the welfare of the people and this has exposed their incompetence and desire to “grab power just for the sake of power”

According to her, “It appears they have once again conferred on me the Constitutional Duties of the Nigerian President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. They do so without handing the office to me so I can urgently, decisively and effectively tackle the degenerate state of insecurity in the South East and other parts of the country; and permanently put them to shame for their abysmal failure.

“Such duplicity is the typical Modus Operandi of the @OfficialAPCNg, @NigeriaGov
folks and their Fan Clubs who never take responsibility for anything but suffer from an obsession to “grab power just for the sake of power”.

“When you are ready to hand over formally to me as your Commander-in-Chief of the Nigeria Armed Forces, let me know. Until then, enjoy calling my name in vain.”

It would be recalled that Reno Omokri had called out the former Minister over her silence in the ongoing challenges in the Southeast region.

Omokri in a tweet which tagged Oby Ezekwesili’s photo, criticised those who defended the fraudulent act of Mmesoma Ejikeme but whose voices had suddenly become silent as they watch the sit-at-home enforcers humiliate people in the Southeast region.

“How come all the prominent celebrities and politicians who were so focused on Lagos during the last gubernatorial elections are now so quiet over the growing insecurity in the Southeast and the forced sit-at-homes paralysing economic and social activities in the region?

“Where are the loud voices that defended the fraudulent act of Mmesoma Ejikeme? How come those who spoke up during the #NigerianElections2023 remain quiet as different non-state actors punish schoolchildren for going to school and deal with market women for going about their lawful businesses?”
