Just a few days before the May 29 inauguration, the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been conferred the highest honour in Nigeria, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, GCFR, while Vice President-elect Kashim Settima, is awarded the second highest national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

The honours were conferred on the duo by the outgoing President, Muhammadu Buhari at an investiture ceremony at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday.

It would be recalled that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council, Boss Mustapha, last week Thursday, released a scheduled transition timetable for the inauguration of the President-elect.

Mustapha at a press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, said the transition will commence with a dinner in honour of the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari on 23 May.

On Monday, May 29th, Tinubu will be sworn in as the next President of Nigeria, succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari, he added.
