A bridge under construction in Delta State collapsed Monday night leaving motorist stranded along the Ogwashi-Uku- Kwame axis of the state.
The bridge, which was at the last stage of completion, was being built by the reknown construction giant, CCECC when it suddenly caved in. The company refused to make any statement about the incident as at press time.
The incident caused traffic gridlock along the Asaba-Kwale-Warri Road in Delta State and motorists and commuters are having a hectic time connecting to their destinations following the incident.
The New Diplomat learnt that commuters were also seen resorting to trekking across the collapsed bridge to join other vehicles that were equally stranded on that side of the bridge to continue their journey.
All efforts made to reach the State Commissioner for Works, Mr Noel Omodon, for comment, proved abortive.
