Despite widespread outrage against the conduct of the just concluded general elections that culminated to series of court cases, President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed satisfaction over his efforts to enthrone an enduring democracy to Nigerians.

The President who made this declaration shortly after observing the Eid prayer, marking the end of the 30-day Ramadan fasting by Muslims all over the world, assured that the future of democracy as a government is bright.

The President as he prepares to leave office in a little over a month expressed satisfaction with his performance thus far in entrenching democracy in Nigeria.

He assured that Nigerians are more than ever ready to defend the system against any threat.

The President noted: “Nigerians cherish democracy. They have shown their love for it and will defend it against real or perceived threats.

“They will continue to vote one way or the other depending on their preferences,” Buhari declared.

His words: “Nigerians appreciate the stability of democracy. The outcome of the elections, in which more than ten Governors failed to make it to the Senate sent a clear message that ordinary Nigerians know the power of their votes and how to use it.

It would be recalled that the outcome of the the presidential election has continued to trigger reactions from Nigerians all over the world.

It has become apparent that the results of some elected politicians may be upturned by the Tribunal or Court.
