As the opposition parties continue in their struggle to reel out evidence at the Tribunal to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt that the President Elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu lacks the local Standi to contest the just concluded Presidential election, one of his lieutenants, Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has dismissed all the allegations against him as unproven and not backed with evidence.

Fashola who was former Chief of Staff to the President-Elect while he was Governor of Lagos state, also advised those jostling to work with him to brace up as Tinubu is a man with combustive energy who works better at night.

The Minister who made these declarations at the Channels Television’s programm “Sunday Politics,” assured that all the controversies trailing Tinubu will play a positive role in revamping Nigeria as the leader.

Fashola, the two term Governor of Lagos state, disclosed that the President-Elect is less perturbed by the numerous scandals calculated to malign his person, adding that Tinubu had always rebuff attempts by his lieutenants to respond to those false allegations.

“Whenever we want to respond to the accusations against him, he would say, let them say whatever they like. A good example was when it was rumoured that he owns the Oriental Hotels at Lekki Phase one in Lagos during the EndSARS crisis that almost brought the city to her kneels. If you respond, you are already giving impetus to their allegations,” he said.

Fashola who also stated that there are too many accusations against the President-Elect without corresponding evidence, however, said that there is no “sainthood” in governance and that the focus should be on performance and efficiency.

“When Nigerians have decided, those issues don’t matter. That is what they have said by these votes.

“Everytime, it gets more difficult, that is his path to success. There is no easy day for him. The more difficult it gets, you can be sure, it is Asiwaju.

“I think now that all of these hurdles have been surmounted. Maybe there is a divine purpose. Maybe perhaps, this is where Nigeria begins to turn in the most positive ways forever.

“Governance is not about sainthood. It is about efficiency, performance, and delivery.

“You must understand that we should not be looking for saints. All of the allegations that were levelled against him have been either unproven or no evidence offered in support of them but they have run along for a while.”

It would be recalled that Fashola succeeded Tinubu as governor of Lagos State in 2007 and he is classified as one of the loyalists of the President-Elect. There are strong indications that Fashola may be appointed as a key cabinet member of the Tinubu’s administration which is billed to take off in May this if all things are equal.
