The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umo Eno, as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.

Eno was declared the winner on Sunday, in Uyo, the State capital, by the Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Emmanuel Adigio.

Eno scored a total of 354,348 to defeat his closest rivals Young Progressives Party’s (YPP) governorship candidate, Bassey Albert who came second with 136,262 votes.

While Akanimo Udofia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 129,602 votes, the Labour Party (LP)’s Uduakobong got 4,746 votes.

Eno won in 29 out of the 31 Local Government Areas in the state.
