Drama as Lagos Monarch Strips Six Chiefs of Titles Over Labour Party Rally Attendance

With just few hours to the elections, reactions have continued to trail verbal threat by the Lagos State Park Management Committee Chairman, Musiliuim Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo to Igbo residents in Lagos to remain at home if they would not vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in tomorrow, Saturday, March 18 governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

MC Oluomo who issued the threat, warned the Igbos of the consequences of going against his directives.

Prominent Nigerians who expressed disgust over the threat, said that MC Oluomo would have been cooling his heels in police custody if Nigeria were to be an organised society where the rule of law holds sway.

Chairman of the National Peace Accord and former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar was reportedly worried over the spate of violence that erupted in the last presidential election.

The Army General who frowned at the statements credited to MC Oluomo, lamented that despite the Peace Accord agreement, politicians still flout the electoral law.

But Dr. Reuben Abati in the Arise TV show, wondered why the Lagos State police command would pretend not to hear this public threat of voters in the state.

He said the Police cannot remain aloof of threat of violence in this Saturday Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

Abati noted that if the police are truly discharging their primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, MC Oluomo and his gang of thugs would have been in custody until after the election.

A network monitored by The New Diplomat showed that Nigerians were bitter with the statement credited to the APC stalwart.

Olumide Lagos:

MC Oluomo should be arrested forth with because his threat is a call to anarchy and chaos. He cannot have his way all the time.

Onochie, Idumota:

The Igbos have suddenly become a nightmare to politicians in Nigeria. Don’t know why they, the Igbos should be made the weeping boy in every situation.

Dada Praise:

This is an idea of what Nigerians should expect at the national level. It’s going to be a thug led federal government, headed by the Jagaban himself. What a shame? Is this the Nigeria of our dream?

Ude Emmanuel;

MC Oluomo ‘s threat is breach of the fundamental human rights of Igbos in Lagos. The Nigerian government is listening to this nonsense without reacting appropriately.

Umaru Isa: it’s becoming obvious that the Yorubas are the pain in the neck of Nigeria as a nation. If every state start issuing threats to the Igbos, I wonder what would become of this industrious ethnic group and Nigeria at large.

Only yesterday the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba announced movement of vehicular restrictions from 12am to 6pm tomorrow, Saturday March 18, being the day for the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

The IGP warned states and private security operatives to steer clear from polling units and all election related.

However, as at the time of filing in the report, the Lagos State police command and head of Igbo residents in Lagos are yet to make any comment on the matter.
