Former Minister of Aviation and a member of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Femi Fani-Kayode, has said the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi is following in the footsteps of Nnamdi Azikiwe, Arthur Nzeribe, by calling for the cancellation of a free and fair election.

Fani-Kayode who took to his official twitter handle to post a video dating back to 1979 in which former President Azikiwe rejected the election of Shehu Shagari wondered why Nigerian politicians after losing election reject the outcome.

It would be recalled that after the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu was declared winner, Peter Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, rejected the election, insisting that it was marred with several irregularities.

In his reaction, Fani-Kayode tweeted, “Why do Nigerian politicians call for the annulment of a free & fair election after losing & for the scrapping of the Electoral Commission that conducted it? Zik did so after Shagari’s 1979 election, Nzeribe did so after Abiola’s 1993 election & Obi did so after BAT’s 2023 election,” he said.
