  • Group Accuses Gov. Okowa Of Vote buying
  • As Delta State Workers Root for Senator Omo-Agege

As the beating drum for the March 11 governorship election gets louder, attempts by the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to buy the conscience of civil servants was outrightly rebuffed by the aggrieved workers who received unsolicited Greek ₦10,000 gift from their paymaster.

One of the Civil Servants who proffered anonymity disclosed that all Delta State workers received a credit alert from the government.

The anonymous Civil Servant who said that the reason for the payment was not stated, adding that it was a glaring case of vote buying as even a layman could read the handwriting on the wall.

“In the near eight years of his administration, we have never known Governor Okowa to be benevolent to workers in the state. This is not Christmas season. Otherwise, the ₦10,000 cash gift would have been ascribed to be Christmas bonus. Perhaps, somebody should find a suitable name for this charity if it’s not to buy the conscience of civil servants in the state,” he said.

The aggrieved Delta State workers who reportedly rejected the largesse, noted that retirees are yet to be paid their accumulated pension arrears.

Another Civil Servant who would not want his name in print, told The New Diplomat that Civil Servants have already lost confidence in Governor Okowa’s led administration.

He stated that it would be difficult to trust his surrogate, Sheriff Oborevwori he wants to impose on the good people of Delta State.

He said workers and pensioners in the state have never had it so bad, hence, they resolved to kick out Okowa and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP government.

“We want to try another party, the All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. He is versatile, exposed and well connected to bring the desired change Deltans are craving for,” he said.

The civil servant who expressed optimism over the electoral victory of Senator Omo-Agege, described the PDP Governorship candidate, Oborevwori as bird of the same feathers.
