The Kaduna Zonal Office of the EFCC, today Thursday July 13, 2017 arraigned Sahel Technical Services Limited and one Umar Faruk, before Jusitce M. T. Aliyu of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna on a two count Charge of Criminal breach of trust and diversion of public funds to the tune of N120,700,000 (One Hundred and Twenty Million Seven Hundred Naira) only.
Umar, a director in Sahel Technical Services ltd, began his sojhourn to the court when the Company was contracted by the Kadùna State Ministry for Governmental Affairs in March 2014 for the supply of 115 units of Hand Tillers to all the 23 Local Government Areas in the state upon which an agreement was reached by all parties involved. He was paid the sum of N 120,700, 000.00 ( one hundred twenty million, seven hundred thousand Naira) in three installments for commencement of the contract which was to be delivered within twelve weeks.
In his ruling, Justice M.T Aliyu granted the accused bail in the sum of N10 million with one surety in like sum who must be resident within the jurisdiction of the Court and own landed property also within the jurisdiction of the Court. The surety must also have the Certificate of occupancy of the residence verified by the Kaduna State Ministry of Lands, while also providing evidence of payment of tax payments for the last 10 years. Trial of the case shall commence on 16th November 2017.
