With pockets of uprising against the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Currency Swap recorded in most southern states, the Chief of Army staff, Let-Gen. Lucky Irabor has assured political thugs and other miscreants who are reportedly battled ready to foment trouble during this Saturday, February 25 presidential election of leaving the polling units with bloody nose.

The Army Chief who issued the warning shortly after a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba in Abuja yesterday, noted that maintaining of civil obedience remains the exclusive preserve of the Nigerian police.

He said the army would complement the efforts of the police in ensuring peaceful atmosphere at the different polling units and centres in order to guarantee a hitch free, fair and credible elections.

In this regard, he advised party thugs and other miscreants on the imminent danger in engaging in election rigging and ballot box snatching.

Irabor also disclosed that men and officers of the Nigerian Army would be deployed to strategic locations across Nigeria to complement the efforts of police officers.
He stated that all security apparatus have been deployed to ensure a smooth and peaceful presidential election this Saturday.

The Army Chief who was accompanied by the Police IGP after an intensive meeting with other security operatives, assured Nigerians that this Saturday, February 25 presidential election would be recorded as one of the best ever conducted thus far in the annals of Nigeria’s convoluted political history.
