As the deadline for the old naira denominations (N200, N500 and N1000) set by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, elapses next week Tuesday, First Bank of Nigeria has said its branches would be opened on Saturday and Sunday (28th and 29th) to receive the old naira cash only.

First Bank in a newsletter sighted by The New Diplomat, on Friday, notified the general public of the latest development as the ultimatum given by CBN expires 31st.

This is to notify the general public that all our branches will be opened on Saturday and Sunday just to receive cash.

All old Naira notes of series 200, 500, and 1000 will cease to be in use from the 31st of January.

Meanwhile, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, (GtB) also said its branches is open to receive old naira notes.

It would be recalled that the House of Reps, on Thursday, summoned Emefiele over the deadline set by the apex institution.

The speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila who was not please with the deadline, said the ultimatum has brought hardship to the masses while noting the that redesigned naira notes is not in circulation yet.
