The Resignation of the Director-General of the Labour Party, (LP) Presidential campaign committee, Doyin Okupe, has drawn mixed reactions on the micro-blogging platform, Twitter, on Tuesday.

The Tweeps who hailed Okupe’s resignation amid heavy critisms over his conviction on money laundering, said the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), National Chairman, Senator Ayu Ayiocha has refused to step down, despite persistent calls from the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on his alleged involvement in fraudulent activities in the party.

It would be recalled that Okupe in a letter addressed to Peter Obi said, “In the circumstances, I have opted to step aside and plead that you appoint a new Campaign DG who can continue the assignment with zero distractions. God bless you and family.”

Similarly, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on September 23 this year, accused Ayu of collecting N1 billion from a presidential hopeful in Lagos State.

“Ayu met one of the presidential candidates and told him he doesn’t think the governors were ready to sponsor the party’s convention and he was given N1 billion.

“That money is not in the party’s coffers. I can tell you the name of the businessmen who were present when he collected the money.”

While Ayu of PDP is struggling to resign, Doyin of LP has resigned honourably for the party and for posterity.

@zege123
Yes, Doyin did the honourable thing to resign
Can Ayu do same? Like Atiku, they encouraged wrong behaviour. Do u remember Congressman Jefferson?

@swiss600
History will be kind to this man.
In a country where people hardly resign, Doyin Okupe has resigned from his role as labour party campaign D.G on moral ground

@netgeria
When you see a leader you will know Eneche and Doyin stepped aside because they believed in
@PeterObi and Nigeria, but Ayu refused to resign his position because Atiku has zero influence but dollarized influence…

Man Among Men 🫧
@Dr__Wealth
Doyin Okupe has resigned as the DG to Peter Obi’s campaign But we have been begging Ayu to resign since 5 months now. The difference is clear! PDAPC takes politics as a personal establishment to enrich themselves! God bless

How often do we see a Nigerian public office holder resign in Nigeria?
Doyin Okupe’s resignation is a clear sign of how a Peter Obi’s government would run.
If you’re found wanting, then you step aside while we keep moving.

Doyin Okupe did the unusually Nigerian thing to do, by honorably resigning. Hungry man FFK & Dino Melaye are facing charges in that same Dasuki Gate. But they’ll rather die than resign. While we await the next banger from gov Wike, will PDP chairman, Iyorcha Ayu, finally reign?

Nigeria is a Jungle
@DamilojuJLT
I can confidently tell u Doyin Okupe would never have resigned , neither would Peter Obi tell him to resign if not because we made the issue a national issue by dragging him on Twitter. Peter Obi that is consulting thieves and killers of democracy,a DG thief never bothered him

Doyin Okupe resigns as the DG labor party presidential campaign. This is a serious embarrassment to Labour Party and Peter Obi’s candidacy. Nigerians know better now, we cannot vote someone who appoints a criminal to direct the affairs of his Campaign.
NEVER!

@Hikda_Org
Doyin Okupe’s resignation has earned him my respect.
They can only harm the body but can’t kill the spirit. ALUTA CONTINUA💪🏾

Detribalised
@FatimaUsmaTT
