The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has finally released popular Afrobeat musician, Daniel Oladapo, aka D’Banj.

This was made known by the legal counsel to the popular musician, Pelumi Olajengbesi.

Olajengbesi who made this known via his official Facebook page, said his client was released on self-recognition.

He also stated that the anti-graft agency released D’banj after they couldn’t find anything incriminating against him.

It would be recalled that the officials of the ICPC arrested D’banj over his alleged involvement in the diversion of about ₦900millions N-Power funds.

Olajengbesi who described the entire process that led to the subsequent arrest and detention of his principal as a charade and an embarrassment to the entire country, wonder how such weighty allegation would be levelled against a renowned musician without corresponding evidence to substantiate the claim.

Against this backdrop, he lamented that the ICPC Chairman, Bolaji Owasanoye (SAN) and the entire officers of the ICPC must be deeply sad and embarrassed that their decent organization was used for such fruitless exercise against an innocent man with legitimate means of livelihood.

He, however, insisted that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, who claimed to have instructed the ICPC to effect the detention and arrest of D’banj must now be ready to explain to world the amount of money traced to his Account.

“We still demand that the minister provide the details of the government authority D’banj allegedly collaborated with and provide the account and N-power funds allegedly traced to Dbanj’s account,” he said.

“While stating that treatment against client was a barefaced injustice, he threatened to seek redress in court if the Anti graft agency failed to render apology and pay compensation to the musician.
“This is injustice and upon the instruction of our client, we may head to court to seek redress, a public apology and compensation from the ICPC,” he said.

Olajengbesi expressed appreciation to Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and Bar. Babs Akinwumi for their professional support towards the release of the popular musician.
