There is currently an air of confusion surrounding how leading Gospel Singer Sammie Okposo died.
While many reports online stated that the Wellu Wellu crooner slumped and died, a statement by the family alluded that the singer died in his sleep.
The family in a statement signed by the family’s representative, Hector Okposo, alluded that the 51-year-old singer ‘‘slept and went to be with the Lord’’ on the morning of Friday.
“It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that I announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, minister of God, Sammie Okposo,” Hector’s statement read.
“Sammie slept and went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022.
“More details about the burial will be communicated soon.
“We are consoled because we know that he is with Jesus singing with angels.
“We kindly request that the family is allowed to grieve peacefully at this time.”
Though the cause of his death is still unknown, unverified reports stated that the singer slumped and was eventually pronounced dead.
His colleague, Righteousman while confirming the demise of the singer had also alluded that Okposo slumped before his death.
He described Okposo’s sudden demise as ‘tragic’, adding that the singer had also collapsed last week upon his return from his praise party concert in the UK and was being treated for exhaustion before he eventually slumped.
It would be recalled that a US-based lady had called out Sammie Okposo for allegedly impregnating her.
The lady identified as African Doll, revealed that she will not abort the baby although she was not happy with the way things had panned out.
She accused the late singer of abandonment and neglect during the pregnancy.
While reacting to the accusation, the Wellu Wellu crooner confessed and publicly apologised for cheating on his wife Ozioma with the lady.
