Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR, better known as Burna Boy, has been awarded the ‘Best African Act’ category at the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).

The event held at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany saw Burna Boy edge other nominees like Ayra Starr (Nigeria), Black Sherif (Ghana), Musa Keys (South Africa) and Zuchu (Tanzania) following a widely successful 2022.

Other award winners at the event include Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.

Burna Boy rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album, L.I.F.E.
