A popular Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has announced the end of her acting career as she battles an undisclosed illness.

Her management team announced this via her verified Instagram page @ HalimaAbubakar.

The post reads: ‘Halima Abubakar Quit Acting’
‘Rejuvenate and continue healing.
‘We all love you. My sweet sis.
‘We are waiting for you diva.’

Also the actress expressed gratitude to all her fans in a statement, she said she appreciated them for their love and prayers.

The statement read “Halima Abubakar quit acting. We are so grateful for all the prayers. God bless you all but as from today, she will no longer act. It is her wish. We love you all. Thank you for the support. She is so downcast. She really did love acting. Thank you”.

The 37-year-old began her acting career in 2002 with the movie Gidan Badamasi. She has since starred in over 100 movies and has produced and directed several films. Halima is also known for her philanthropic work, which includes helping to build schools and hospitals in Nigeria. In 2014, she was named one of the 100 most influential Africans by New African magazine.
