The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa on Tuesday met with party stakeholders in the South East region of the country in Enugu State.

The meeting is said to be part of the presidential candidate’s consultations with party stakeholders at the Zonal level.

However, the event was not attended by Abịa State Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu who sent his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu.
Also missing at the meeting is Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, the senator who is representing the Enugu East Senatorial zone and some other critical stakeholders of the party.

It was learnt that the stakeholders in the zone will present their list of expectations as well as positions on issues of mutual benefit as the party prepares for the 2023 general elections.

It would be recalled that Atiku held a similar meeting with stakeholders in the South West, in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital last week, where the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal predicted that the Peoples Democratic Party will take over the six states of the South-West in the 2023 elections.

According to Tambuwal, the victory of the party in Osun State was a prelude to PDP’s bid to take over the entire South-West region.

Tambuwal said, “What happened in Osun State recently is a sign of what to come. The South-West is going to be delivered to the PDP come 2023.”

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke; former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and his Ondo State counterpart, Dr Olusegun Mimiko and other leaders of the party from the South-West were also present at the meeting.
