President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated former Nigerian Head of State, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), on his 81st birthday, August 17, 2022.

Buhari in a congratulatory letter issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday in Abuja, prayed for longer life, good health and strength for the octogenarian.

The President notes the historical role of the former military President in shaping the political and economic development of the country and his counsels to upcoming political leaders.

It would be recalled that the former military president served from 1985 to 1993.

Born on August 17, 1941, in Niger state, Babangida received military training in Nigeria, India, Great Britain, and the United States.

Babangida joined the Nigerian Army on 10 December 1962, where he attended the Nigerian Military Training College in Kaduna.
