Barr. Mike Igini on Friday bidded farewell to Akwa Ibom State as a Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC) with the Independent Electoral Commission, (INEC).

Igini who has handed over the Administrative Secretary of INEC in Akwa Ibom State assured that electoral built would be maintained.

Igini is renowned for his catalytic relationship with the powers that be and notable politicians in Edo, Rivers and other states.

In Akwa Ibom, Igini was hated by some politicians when in 2019 when he unmasked 23 illegal polling units operating in their homes.

“Politicians in Akwa Ibom State are used to rigging, but I have said no. That is why the ‘Dinosaurs’ are angry. Some believe that they can buy all the people all the time because of permanent interest, but Mike Igini has vowed that I can’t be bought with money.

“INEC in the State will continue to serve the people even at the risk of their lives because they are doing the right thing. Democracy will have no meaning if the rule of law is not embraced.”

Igini assured that despite death threats and his exit, Akwa Ibom people will continue to enjoy the benefits of electoral and quality service to the people from INEC staff. The retired INEC REC emphasized that those who break the law will not go unpunished.

“All elements who acted contrary to the rule of Electoral law in 2019 were duly punished, including INEC Staff. INEC has built electoral fireworks in Akwa Ibom State so that electoral template can be maintained.”
