Nigerian striker, Asisat Oshoala, has been nominated for the 2022 women’s Ballon d’Or award, following her stellar season with Barcelona Femini in the Spanish League.

The 27-year-old Nigerian was nominated for the award because of her exploits with Barcelona Femeni during the just concluded 2021/22 season.

She scored 20 goals in 19 league appearances for Barcelona Femeni and shared the award with Geyse Ferreira of Madrid CFF, who netted 20 goals in 27 appearances.

Oshoala who won the Pichichi award as joint-top scorer in Spain is recovering from an injury sustained playing for the Super Falcons at the recently concluded 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) held in Morocco.
