Sapele, the headquarters of Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State is presently under siege by suspected kidnappers as three persons have been reportedly kidnapped last week but miraculously escaped the kidnappers den.

Earlier in the week, one Joel was kidnapped at Eko Amukpe on his way home from a filling station where he went to buy petrol for his generator.

It was gathered that Joel had got home and was about to alight from his car to open the gate when the kidnappers pounced on him and whisked him into a nearby bush, after which, they demanded for N15 million ransom to release him, an amount which was later reduced to N10 million.

The victim however managed to escape miraculously after some days in the kidnappers’ den.

In a similar incident, some persons broke into the house of a resident popularly known as Kafancha that who lives along Crudas road.

It was gathered that when they didn’t find him at home, they made away with his Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle in anger and zoomed off.

The car was later found abandoned along Warri/ Sapele Road with the key stuck right inside the ignition.

The third incident occured last Wednesday night when the kidnappers visited the home of a local resident at Shell Road.

They kidnapped the owner of the house, put him in his Venza Sports Utility Vehicle and zoomed off towards Warri.

The suspected kidnappers however ran out of luck luck when they ran into a trailer along Warri/ Sapele Road, sustaining serious injuries, which made them abandon the vehicle and their victim as they fled with their injuries.

A police source at Sapele Divisional Police Station who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the series of incidents and advised that people should avoid night movement for now as much as they could until the hoodlums who are on prowl in the town are fished out.
