Barrage of reactions have begun to trail a document displaying the new costs of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called petrol, in various regions of Nigeria.

In the viral document, the new fuel prices for South-West, North-West, North-East and South-South, were pegged at N179, N184, N189 and N179 respectively.

Also, the new prices of the commodity per litre in the North-Central, South-East, Abuja and Lagos were put at N179, N184, N174 and N169 respectively.

Since the emergence of the document, many residents have been wondering whether the Federal Government has approved a new price for fuel in the country.

The confusion was fuelled by the recent unveiling of a new Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.).

However, some operators in the downstream oil sector who spoke with the members of the press alleged that the fuel prices were approved by government, many others debunked the allegation on the grounds that the document had yet to be confirmed officially.

The document, entitled, “PMS Pump Price Adjustment,” described the government-approved N165/litre price of petrol as “old price,” as it went further to outline the new rates for the commodity in different regions of Nigeria.

For the South-West, North-West, North-East and South-South, it outlined the new PMS pump prices per litre in these regions to be N179, N184, N189 and N179 respectively.

The new prices of the commodity per litre in the North-Central, South-East, Abuja and Lagos were put at N179, N184, N174 and N169 respectively.

On the section captured as “PMS Ex-depot Price Adjustment”, the document stated that while the old ex-depot price was N148.17/litre, the new rates in Lagos, Warri/Ogharra and Port Harcourt were now N160-N162/litre, N162-N165/litre and N165-N167/litre respectively.

Below here are some of the reactions harvested on Twitter;

“So NNPC has approved new pump price of pms to 179 naira per liter?Naija where are we heading to? Inflation every second and the masses are languishing in poverty. If this suffer never do you, then you are called for damnation !! Get your PVC and vote wisely,”(@dat-isoko-guy)

“So according to the new pump price of PMS, petrol is now more expensive in the North. I’m actually ok with this, we need to start investing in alternatives anyway. Maybe this will kick-start some innovations,”(@MahmoudTokura)

“We just witness PMS price increase without prior notice. Is that how to unveil a new company?

@atiku has been vindicated! @MBuhari’s Government is implementing @atiku’s idea.

Bold Administration that has no direction!

@ShehuSani @bukolasaraki @AWTambuwal @Abdulmaliks2015,”(Baka0nTop)
