President Muhammadu Buhari is currently holding a closed-door meeting with some Governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was learnt that the meeting is holding at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Governors were led to the meeting with Buhari by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State.

The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, Governors Babagana Zulum of Borno State; Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna; Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Jigawa; Abdullahi Sule, Nasarawa; Simon Lalong, Plateau; Yahaya Bello, Kogi; and Hope Uzodinma of Imo State.

It was gathered that Tuesday’s meeting comes at a time the party is engaging in high-level consultations on the choice of running mate for its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The New Diplomat had reported that the APC, among other parties, are set to unveil their Vice-Presidential candidate in the coming days as stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The electoral commission had fixed June 17, 2022, as the deadline for the submission of the list of candidates running for the 2023 General elections.
