Similarly, Salome Sunday’s efforts again made Nigeria sure of winning her 2nd game with her 32 runs off 40 balls.

The Uyo-born player currently seats 3rd on the best batters ranking in the tournament.

Salome’s effort and four other girls from Akwa Ibom State cricket Association brought blissful moments for the Chairman, Prof. Emem Bassey.

“I think am actually happy and proud of the girls. Am proud of them against the backdrop that cricket in Akwa ibom has been basically led by individuals.

“For us to have 5 girls out of a squad of 14, is a testament that Akwa Ibom cricket has come of age.” Professor Bassey, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital said.

The Female Yellow Greens on the tournament’s opening day, Thursday defeated Brazil. It would be recalled that the Kwibuka T20 Cricket tournament is becoming Africa’s biggest female invitational competition in remembrance of the genocide victims of Rwanda. The game reminds Rwanda of the call to respect each other and build peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups. Today Rwanda has developed to the envy of many and is adjudged the cleanest country in Africa.
